"Beartown"

So, this book. How do we begin to cover this book? Fredrik Backman has a way with words that few authors are truly able to manage. Reading a book by this man is a real treat, one that always takes you on a journey.

"Beartown" introduces us to a little town that exists solely because of hockey. Not loving hockey is not something conceived as normal if you live there. As we make our way through this town, we are met with several characters along the way, seeing every side of them. The fact that Backman manages to tell so many stories with so many different characters without the reader getting lost at one point or another, is a testament to his writing capabilities.

But "Beartown" is not such a peaceful, uneventful, little town. No, we soon witness an event that will end up changing this place without any warning.

This book leaves you thinking after every page. It's filled with thoughts on life, on society, on individuals. It's about what we do when faced with trouble, it's about regrets and strength when none is left, it's about loyalty and how far we are willing to go for the sake of it. Family, friendship, love...all of it. This book is life itself, sometimes making you laugh, sometimes making you cry, sometimes even making you want to hurl the book across the room. We can't wait to get our hands on the second part "Us against you". Please make sure to get "Beartown" for your "TBR" pile, you won't be disappointed.
